Membership in the Alliance is by invitation-only. We are the largest convener of progressive individual and institutional donors and serve as a "center of gravity" for the progressive funding world. We offer analysis of the elements of a functioning progressive movement and then make recommendations to funders on the specific organizations they can support so it can succeed. Over the past 8 years, the Democracy Alliance has aligned donors, leaders in the progressive movement, and political infrastructure in order to achieve victories at the ballot box and in policy fights including those for comprehensive health care reform, Supreme Court confirmations, marriage equality and pay equity protections for women, among many. No other organization in the progressive movement is positioned to foster the kind of alignment that is critical to our success going forward.

The Alliance's primary means of achieving our goals is to organize progressive funders and help build stronger, more collaborative organizations that evolve, over time, into a robust, integrated progressive movement that is the foundation of a sustainable progressive majority. Although focused on the long-term, we understand that near-term victories create momentum for more permanent change.

Our success requires clarity about what matters most to us as progressives (values), what we believe progressive change looks like (vision), why this is an opportune moment to accelerate progressive change (opportunities), and how we choose to focus our recommendations.
